'We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.'

George Orwell

“Our own society, with its program of cameras to monitor the public,
its obsession with codifying citizen's personal data, the insidious
merging of government and media, the curtailment of civil
liberties and freedom of speech and the perpetual state of fear
created by The War on Terror, we too are capable of sliding
inexorably towards the Orwellian nightmare."

Lizzie French, Writer

This dramatic adaptation will awaken our audiences and challenge
their perceptions of the world they live in today.

as part of the Time Out Critics' Choice Spring Season 2002,
remaining Critics Choice for a further three weeks
The production was then invited to The Theatre Royal Bath
as part of the 'Wild & Wacky' Festival of Theatre.

Inspired by Kipling's 'Jungle Books', a core team of five collaborated
to produce a unique piece of fast paced, visual, physical theatre

performers and a couple of dustbins and, as described by The Stage
'pushes storytelling to the fore'.

The King of Schnorrers

Adapted from Israel Zangwill's novel, 'The King of Schnorrers' premiered
in 1999. Winning a commendation for storytelling at the NSDF 2000,
this vigorous two man show toured the country to critical acclaim,
culminating in sell out runs in London and at the Edinburgh Festival.

Providing scope for school and youth group workshops, 'The King of Schnorrers' formed a cross-cultural bridge to the Jewish community prompting Labyrinth member Robert Messik to write and produce
the documentary 'Reintroducing Israel Zangwill'.Filmed in association with Lizard Republic and narrated by
Simon Callow, it is a documentary driven by one question: 'Why has
Israel Zangwill, author of 'The King Of Schnorrers', a contemporary
of Shaw and Kipling, hero of the suffragette and Zionist movements,
been forgotten by today's society?'
